1996 marked a milestone in the Group's history with its decision to sponsor a professional cycling team to improve brand recognition with the general public.
The company chose the popular sport of cycling, which conveys values, such as courage, striving to excel and team spirit.
For the past 19 years, COFIDIS's continued support for cycling highlights these values and the striking parallels between its distance credit business and the cycling team.
In the space of a few years its investment in cycling sponsorship has paid dividends. The Cofidis brand is now well known to the general public and enjoys very high brand recognition.
The para-cycling team
In an ambitious move that fits perfectly with its corporate culture and policies, COFIDIS was the first professional cycling team in France to include disabled riders among its number by forming a disabled cycling section. The sponsor has provided material and logistics support for Olympic champion, Laurent Thirionet, for the past 14 years.
Huge support from COFIDIS employees for the publicity caravan
The publicity caravan runs ahead of the cyclists in the race. In a colourful spectacle, the two Cofidis floats are staffed by company personnel and travel almost 9,000 km every year.
